Portland – Ringside Steakhouse

A bit of a celebratory dinner last night at Portland’s old-timey steakhouse, the Ringside,  around for decades before Ruth’s, Morton’s, and El Gaucho crept into the city.   The Ringside is old, dark, and has seniors lining up at the door for their early-bird specials.  Thankfully the darkness cancels out the glare of the white socks and sandals.

Eschewing the jello and mashed potato crowd, we started with a plate of oysters, a small order of their “famous” onion rings (they are good),  split a 24 oz porterhouse, with garlic mash, a side of sauteed mushrooms in wine and herbs (nice) and finished with creme brulee.

No light for photos, except this one of the “calm before the storm.”   Superb table service, at least for us.
