I Get Smacked Hard on One of My Reviews

Rebuttal to Culinary Circle Frozen Pizza Review

I seldom get comments on this site, and I welcome that.  Often my reviews are reposted on other sites, and sometimes they do get feedback at those locations.  Such is the case with reader “Dwayne from Maine”  who took exception to my opinion on Culinary Circle (a store brand for Albertsons and other stores) frozen pizza. (My original review appeared four years ago).

Everybody has an opinion, and as I often say in my reviews, “this post reflects my personal taste, and the product may be perfect for you.”  You are entitled.  And you are welcome to respond to any reviews here, or post your own.   I’m happy for Dwayne that this is the perfect pizza for him, however, he made a number of assumptions from my review that were’t/aren’t true.  And that’s ok, too.

Dwayne from Maine, sez:

HAHAHAHAHAHA YOU IGNORAMUS! You’re review is a joke. Actually, YOU’RE A JOKE! First off, if you’re deciding to buy pizza based on how many ounces it is, right off the bat, you’re already a gluttonous retard in my book. Then, your DUMB ASS mocked the instructions on the back of the box – which EVERY frozen food product shares the EXACT same instructions for legal reasons, because of retards like you as a matter of fact! I don’t understand the motivation to your need to mock these instructions, like you have never seen the same instructions on every other frozen food product. Your ignorant ass also doesn’t even know how to use a pizza stone, and to boot PIZZA STONES ARE NOT MADE FOR COOKING FROZEN PIZZAS YOU STUPID F***! FROZEN PIZZAS ARE DESIGNED TO BAKE UP IN A REGULAR OVEN THE SAME WAY THAT NON FROZEN DOUGH IS SUPPOSED TO COME OUT ON A PIZZA STONE! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?!! The CC pizzas are basically the BEST frozen pizzas on the market. They have the best topping/crust combinations and options, and the best final product on the market. I pay $4 for these pizzas when they are on sale, and $5 normally. Your complaints about the price and size are absolutely invalid and retarded beyond understanding. I will NEVER EVER EVER be able to EVER take any sort of culinary review or advice from you. EVER. For ANYTHING. It’s REALLY REALLY bad when a person ruins their review “career” only with ONE single review. HAHHAHAHAHA what a JOKE you are!!! I’m certain that any other reviews you have made are likely garbage and not worth 1 minute of my time to read it. I have never seen a single food review in my life that has been so stupid, and so unanimously disagreed with at such an extreme (basically, 0-42 – ZERO people agree with you, and FORTY-TWO think you are an ignorant jer*off!) BAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

—–

I went back to the other site today to reference something and noticed there is a boatload of people who disagree with me on Culinary Circle.  Some of the comments are VERY funny!

I beg to disagree, but this is the best frozen pizza I have had. I tried the one with pepperoni and ultra thin crust and baked it exactly as it says. My husband and I had it in the Islands and have been searching for it ever since. We are serious pizza lovers, having enjoyed pizza. for the last 60 years. I found this site by coing a search for culinary circle.

  3. Starwalt15on 20 Oct 2010 at 6:45 pm

I also disagree! I am a serious frozen pizza eater and this is the best frozen pizza I have EVER eaten!! I’m guessing you must have eaten yours from a store that failed to properly handle the product. I tried the chicken garlic alfredo and the supreme and both were excellent. They had fresh toppings and a great thin flaky crust…perfect in my opinion. As a matter of fact…I googled their company name just to leave some sort of positive feedback for the company.

I’m happy they include the instructions “do not eat the pizza without baking”, aren’t you?!!

  5. Jutta Son 19 Nov 2010 at 1:12 am

Count me as a ‘disagree-er’ as well. I chose their “Rising Crust” spinach and mushroom pizza because it sounded interesting and was only 4 bucks, as opposed to the other brands which started at 7. WOW! Delicious! Give it another shot and this time try the Rising Crust variety. I’m preheating the oven for another one as I write this.

  6. Jutta Son 19 Nov 2010 at 1:26 am

Forgot to add that the “no duh” instructions on the box are required because some people have no common sense and this country is overrun with lawyers are eager to capitalize on the results of their mistakes. The product shouldn’t be dinged for that. Adios!

  7. Anuson 01 Dec 2010 at 4:42 am

I am eating a slice of their Ultra Thin Crust Pepperoni right now and it is delicious. The best part is that it only took 12 minutes to cook and the crust is super crispy. YUM!

  8. Mold Removal Irvineon 09 Dec 2010 at 12:48 pm

    I also disagree!

  9. Jwsron 11 Jan 2011 at 11:31 pm

Dude… Instructions say place on the rack, you decide you “know better” or choose to ignore, and complain? I guess that means if you didn’t use a pizza stone normally, but “decided” you preferred to cook on the burner, you’d complain then too? I’ve only tried the chicken alfreado (sp) and “I” decided to follow the directions of the people that made the pizza… VERY Good Piza… Will be eating this again. Very good pizza….

I just had a Culinary Circle Rising Crust Spinach & Mushroom and think it the best frozen pizza I’ve ever had and one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had period. I followed the instructions precisely, added about 1/4 cup small-chopped tomato, 2-3 tbsps. of Nueske’s Applewood smoked bacon minced & fried 3/4 crisp, about another 2/3 cup mozzarella. When it was done I–as I do any pizza–sprinkled it w/Parmesan-Romano and crushed red pepper. It has half the sodium of most other premium brands, 2/3 the sodium of Newman’s Best. Wonderful tender crust, flavorful toppings, very reasonable price at Walmart. I’ll be having it often.

  11. Badgersdrifton 12 Jan 2011 at 3:30 am

Just remembered your advice to buy pizzas that weigh over 22 oz. The Culinary Circle Rising Crust Spinach Mushroom weighs 30.3 oz.

  12. Debon 21 Jan 2011 at 6:58 am

Culinary Circle isnt offered at Walmart. It is the store brand for SUPERVALU, so you can find it at Albertsons, Jewel, Shaw’s, ACME, Cub, Shop n Save, etc.

  13. Debon 21 Jan 2011 at 6:59 am

Just came across this bog… did you find Culinary Circle yet at your local SUPERVALU store?

  14. Nevarez77on 23 Jan 2011 at 5:39 pm

I really liked this pizza. I didn’t know it was Albertson’s brand. I think it was the best frozen I’ve had though. I highly recommend it.

  15. Sparklecoogson 01 Feb 2011 at 7:11 pm

I agree with those who disagree. Culinary Circle is probably the best frozen pizza I’ve ever had. The thin crust is fantastic if you follow the instructions to bake it directly on the rack. Excellent pizza, period.

  16. Plval3on 23 Feb 2011 at 1:37 pm

Stupid people do stupid things….when writing an HONEST review, you would prepare more than one of the product you are testing, cook according to the directions listed (not what YOU want to do!) and eat it as prepared, NOT with additional toppings that would alter the product (in this case pizza), the cooking time and flavor. I hope you do not get paid for these reviews since the people paying are wasting their money.

  17. renee t.on 16 Apr 2011 at 3:30 am

this is by far, the best frozen pizza i’ve ever eaten! i say 8 out of 8 slices to this brand…:p

  18. Bribo54on 18 Apr 2011 at 9:37 pm

You know, when you use a pizza stone, you have to preheat the oven at 500 degrees for an hour or so. If you didn’t, it would explain why your crust was limp.

  19. ghostboyon 12 May 2011 at 8:10 pm

Guys, this is one of the best thin crust pizzas I have ever had. It has a balanced flavor of spices and seasonings, and the cheese is great! No, I;m not a critic, just a guy that LOVES thin crust pizza.

Ya know, this is a really good pizza. I have an Alberstson’s down the street from me in Denver and I shop there loyally. Until this article, I did not know that CC is a store brand of theirs.

  20. Fhcoyoteon 30 May 2011 at 12:08 am

maybe you should have your oven checked and stop smelling boxes. I think CC pizzza is great! I had hot pepper flakes.

  21. Aptmangon 01 Sep 2011 at 6:54 am

Your a retard…read the instructions..preheat oven to 425 degrees and in 14 mins  its done..better pizza by far than papa johns, domino’s and way better than hungry Howie’s. I think its awesome pizza

  22. Nssmith2261985on 22 Oct 2011 at 4:11 pm

No offense but this review is ridicilous. Ive had digiorno frescetta every other frozen pizza and culinary circle is by far the best value and most delicious. I usually get ultra thincrust chicken alfredo or the rising three meat. They are amazing!!! Maybe follow the directions a pizza stone is not for frozen pizzas….

  23. Anonymouson 22 Oct 2011 at 5:31 pm

That’s what I was thinking, it sounds like the stone was cold and the cook was an idiot.

  24. Texasglory1944on 05 Dec 2011 at 2:36 pm

I am in the Dallas area and bought the Culinary Circle brand of pizza a few times already in my local Albertson’s grocery. I prefer the thin crust but have also tried the self-rising. I have tried the supreme, spicy Italian sausage and the garlic chicken alfredo.  All of them were outstanding for a frozen pizza that only cost me around $4. or less if they were on sale. I am from the Jersey area and know good pizza. The taste from these were really good!

  25. pizzapieon 14 Jan 2012 at 5:56 pm

Sorry but i have to disagree with you….This is a pretty good frozen pizza and for the price it can’t be beat(the supermarket I go to has a 2/$10). A Di Giorno pizza is $7.99!!(prices may vary from store to store).
Anyway, I’m eating a few slices of the Ultra Thin Crust Margherita right now and it came out perfectly crispy and with a nice golden crust as it always does.I’ve tried most of the C.C. pizza as well as breads, desserts, pasta sauces and never been disappointed. The instructions say to preheat the oven to 425 degrees, put it in the center of the oven and bake for 12-14 minutes. I set the timer for 12 and it was perfect!
Perhaps your oven is off and may need to be checked and plus if you’ve used a pizza stone(why do that unless you’re baking homemade pizza dough?) it needs to be preheated with the oven at the highest setting(450-500 degrees F) for at least 30 minutes or longer. So give it another try but this time follow the instructions and leave it like it is without adding any other ingredients!!!

You must have done something wrong.  The CC frozen pizza I had was the best frozen pizza I’ve ever come across, though it was at ACME (no Albertson’s where I am).  I just followed the package directions.  Better than some “real” pizza I’ve had before, believe it or not (like Domino’s).

Dislike!! This pizza comes out great if you put it on a pizza pan and cook for 19 minutes. Amazing pizza. Perfect crust, very crispy. I only use pizza stones if I am going to be cooking several pizzas in a short amount of time (They get hot and stay hot). Anyway! Don’t listen to this guy, the pizza is amazing. For the record I am currently eating my third Margherita pizza and it is just as good as the first one.

  29. Seafoamrexon 16 May 2012 at 10:48 pm

Ditch the cooking stone, thats your problem! I buy these all the time for 2/$9 and they are very good for a frozen pizza.

  30. Nybtrfly1on 18 Jun 2012 at 12:19 pm

I love this frozen pizza.  Best I’ve had. The thin crust was light and it did not weigh me down.  The cheese melted beautifully and seemed very fresh and the sauce had flavor, and there were plenty of pepperoni slices too.  We went back to supermarket and bought 4 more pizzas the same day and the entire end case was almost empty.  Others must have loved it too.

  31. Eric Weiron 10 Aug 2012 at 4:12 pm

yeah im gonna have to agree with a majority of the people who commented… im no expert in pizzas even though i have worked for Dominos Pizza for 12 years… i will say CC pizza is far better than some of that “cardboard” crap they call pizza…. what are u comparing this to???

  32. Mikeon 23 Nov 2012 at 1:54 pm

Whoever wrote this blog is on crack or something. Culinary Circle pizza is absolutely the best frozen pizza out there. There rising crust and thin crust varieties are fantastic, I love the oven roasted peppers and onions on the supreme

  33. Sthomaon 17 Jun 2013 at 3:41 am

I disagree with this article, cc makes delicious frozen pizza!

  34. andib23on 17 Jun 2013 at 5:36 pm

how do we get this review changed or at least redone by a person who actually knows what they are talking about. below me are around 30 comments from people who completely disagree would probably give Culinary Circle atleast a 6 out of 8. i was searching this brand to find out if other people loved it as much as i do and was disappointed to read this review. however after reading the comments from the very smart people below, i’ve concluded that this guy doesn’t know much about judging/cooking pizza at all.

  35. myhonestopinionon 30 Jul 2013 at 5:43 pm

This review is stupid. For the first time yesterday I purchased
a CC pizza (sausage & onion) and today I found it delicious! Just
afterwards (now) I came to the web to find out more about CC and this is the
first site my search led me to. Thank goodness for the honest contrary reviews
here. What is ironic is that the site reviewer mentions Home Run pizza as a
favorite. The prior frozen pizza I had before this one was Home Run, which was also the first time I had that brand – and I was totally disappointed with it. Their crust was crap (no pardon to my word choice here) and their seasoning was less than enticing (and believe me, I love good Chicago pizza). To conclude, as I began, “this review is stupid.” And moreover, and sadly, it is WRONG.

  36. jakecobbon 18 Dec 2013 at 4:24 pm

I have purchased and shared Culinary Circle pizzas and for the price (which was $3.99) they are one of the best “bang-for-your-buck” on the frozen pizza market. They have a three meat topping that is excellent. I’m not “lost in a kitchen” type dude. Every stove/oven has variances. The cooking instructions are a guide (as or most cooking instructions on frozen products)…
As with other “frozen pizzas” I usually add additional sauce/salsa and in some
instances I may add cheese also….but even without any additions, the Culinary Circle line of pizzas are excellent, and again for the price…one of the best on the market. I recommend it highly.

  37. thomas jeffersonon 09 Jan 2014 at 11:22 am

I recently bought a 5 cheese culinary pizza from jewel.1-2-2014 after cooking and getting to the third slice,i bit into something hard and broke my back tooth.Their was a circular piece of metal in the pizza, looks like it came off assembly line-had a sharp tab on the back of it.

  38. Ginaon 06 Mar 2014 at 11:08 pm

I follow the instructions and put directly on the rack (its for a REASON that it tells you this)..pizza is best frozen I’ve eaten in a long time

  39. Johnon 23 Mar 2014 at 2:29 am

You spent more time critiquing their supposedly extraneous cooking instructions than you did actually speaking about the pizza – which is actually one of the best frozen pizzas I’ve had. Granted that’s my opinion. But this was a terrible review.

  40. Ken Rosenzweigon 18 May 2014 at 3:54 pm

The opinion in this review sounds like it was formed before they ever bought, cooked, or ate the pizza. It’s a supermarket brand, they decided to hate it.

These may be the best frozen pizzas that I’ve had. The crust is definitely the best. It’s still a frozen pizza, not like going to a pizza parlor. But darn good.

  41. Melanieon 01 Aug 2014 at 9:39 pm

Best rising crust frozen pizza we’ve had too! We found and tried them 2 months ago and now this is all we will buy. Price is great, our favorite is the pepperoni. Besides slices of pepperoni, it has the chopped pepperoni. Crust is great as well as the quality in the toppings. We give it 5 stars out of 5!
